Guests at the 10th Moreton Business Lunch were given a Masterclass in Economics by renowned city figure, Xavier Rolet who has recently been named one of the Best 100 CEOs in the world!

The delicious lunch catered by the Moreton Team, was sponsored by Investec for the fifth year running. Over 350 business guests from a wide range of businesses from Shropshire, Wales and Cheshire attended.

After lunch, 100 Moreton students as well as students from other schools came to listen to Xavier’s speech which was a clear and insightful overview of capitalism, renewed nationalism, fragmentation and protectionism, and the rise of China.

Xavier also addressed the thorny issue of increasing competition for Western economies and how there needs to be a greater focus on supporting entrepreneurs and encouraging innovation.

If his speech wasn’t enough, Xavier then gave a small focused seminar on Careers in the City to a very appreciative audience of Moreton economic and finance students, talking about how new ideas are needed to respond to growing challenges.
