Moreton Hall is set to open a performance academy to young people with the desire to develop their skills in all things theatrical.
The Face2Face performance academy will open its door in January 2017, and will be run by Moreton Hall drama teacher and local professional performer, Michael Jenkins.
Michael commented: "Face2Face will provide young people in the local community with the opportunity to embrace all three of the performance disciplines; dance, drama and singing.
"The Face2Face team is passionate about what they do, and students will receive expert teaching whilst building their confidence and having fun! It will be a place where children and young adults will develop the necessary skills for a career in stage, screen and radio as well as providing a springboard for students into the world of entertainment."
This ‘springboard’ will be assisted by Face2Face’s connection to renowned theatrical agent, Mark Jermin, who will visit the students, offering them support and guidance with regards to entering the industry. Jermin commented:
I cannot wait to see what the people of Oswestry have to offer the TV, radio and theatre worlds - I look forward to finding talent in this area of the country.
As well as classes run by the team of experienced teachers, guest professionals from all walks of life will visit students and run masterclasses. Whether it is a ‘Wicked!’ workshop from a current West End performer or a high energy class delivered by a critically acclaimed choreographer, students will come face to face with inspiring teachers who will share their industry experience with them.
One famed industry professional who has welcomed the opening of Face2Face is EastEnders actress Charlie Brooks, known for portraying the role of super villain Janine Butcher. Brooks commented:
What an exciting opportunity for the young people of Shropshire, I started off in a local Drama group and so I realise the importance of these classes within communities.
The Face2Face Performance Academy is open to anybody in the local community between the ages of 9 and 18 and will run weekly alongside the academic term.
If you’re interested and keen to experience a Face2Face class for yourself, you can attend a FREE taster session on November 25th, from 6pm - 8:30pm in the Musgrave Theatre at Moreton Hall.
