Chester Festival Winners

Pupils from Year 2 to Lower 5 competed in the Chester Competitive Festival of Performing Arts last weekend. All those who performed demonstrated confidence and skill in speaking in front of an audience with many winning awards.

Some noteworthy successes included Kundai who won the verse speaking class, for Years 9 and 10, with 87 marks (Distinction). Carolina won the verse speaking class (set poem), for Years 9 and 10 and the Hargreaves Trophy, with 85 marks. Grace won the Spiritual Reading class for Years 9 and 10 with 87 marks. There were many other good performances throughout the school. Such was the quality of the public speaking that in the verse speaking class for Years 9 and 10, Eloise was placed second with 86 marks and Lydia, Charlotte, Rosie and Honor all scored 85 marks placing them third. 

In the Junior years Alexa and Olivia both won the Pat Kerrick Trophy for Years 3 and 4 Junior Duologues. Sophie was placed second for the Year 5 and 6 Solo Drama and third for the Prose Reading. Cathy was placed second in the Year 6 Prepared Roles and third in the Year 6 Verse Speaking classes and Francesca was placed second in the Year 2 Prepared Roles and Verse Speaking classes. Kate was placed third in the Year 5 Verse Speaking class.

All those who took part should be proud of their achievements.
