A staggering eight Moreton teams achieved landslide victories in both Lacrosse and Netball against a host of opponents on Saturday 28th January. This clean sweep follows some excellent weekly victories since the start of term.
The 1st and 2nd Lacrosse Teams played in a Triangular Tournament against tough opponents, Sedbergh School and Shrewsbury School 1st teams. For the Moreton 2nd’s, this victory exemplified how hard they have worked this season on refining sporting skills and various tactics. As their final match before competing in the National Schools’ tournament on Saturday 4th March, the win achieved against Sedbergh’s 1st team bodes well for their form and their performance in this upcoming, challenging fixture. It also gave them an excellent opportunity to test out their strategies in preparation.
A close first half resulted in a 3-1 lead for the home side. However, in the second half, Moreton stormed ahead and the final score was 9-1. The opposition had very few chances against our strong defence and our attacking side showed both determination and skill.
As part of the same Triangular Lacrosse Tournament, the Moreton 1st Team were matched against Shrewsbury School’s 1st team. As the evidently stronger side, the Moreton team achieved a comfortable win of 16-1. Next Sunday the 1st and U15 teams will travel to St Helen's and St Katharine's, Abingdon, to play against some strong schools from the South of England. This will be an excellent test for both teams.
Whilst we were achieving strong wins over on the Lacrosse pitches, a selection of Moreton Hall Netball Teams were mirroring their successes on the Netball courts. All year groups played their Rydal Penrhos counterparts. The girls performed exceptionally and all teams should be proud of their excellent scores.
