Exceptional Spoken English Results
Moreton students have received news of another set of outstanding Spoken English results. All girls in L6 (Year 12) attend an hour of Spoken English lessons a week to develop their skills in oral communications. In early April they all presented work for the English Speaking Board Advanced Certificate in Spoken English, which is on the UCAS tariff. The students gained a very pleasing set of results with over 20 distinctions, the highest mark possible, with a further 15 gaining distinctions in other Spoken English disciplines.
Girls choose an article from a national newspaper on a controversial topic and introduce and chair the discussion on the topic which encourages them to listen to the news and read local and international newspapers.
Head of Spoken English, Merriel Halsall-Williams, comments:‘The Spoken English qualification is vital to the girls’ development; it helps develop confidence and communications skills, which are an essential life skill’.
