Moreton hosted a French afternoon for local schools this week. Over 200 children aged 9 to 13 years were treated to a French-themed lunch in the school’s dining hall. They then enjoyed a highly entertaining performance of 'Le Tour de France', a play in French put on by the Flying Theatre Company. The show was an action-packed, fun-filled and interactive extravaganza performed entirely in French using vocabulary that children of this age encounter. Pupils and staff alike were captivated by the colourful set and circus acts including feats of juggling, balancing, magic and illusions.
As Primary Schools are now obliged to teach a foreign language at Key Stage 2, this sort of event represents a real boost to learning and inspires children who have the opportunity to hear authentic speakers in an educational and fun-filled environment.
