Grandparents Day 2018

Moreton Hall celebrated Grandparents’ Day in honour of the support grandparents show the school and its pupils.

This year was another wonderful event with over 100 parents and grandparents attending. The grandparents were welcomed into the Musgrave for refreshments before taking their seats to enjoy an afternoon of performances by the students.

The guests appreciated a delicious lunch prepared by Stephen Conroy’s catering team. On their tables, they were greeted with welcome notes, hand-drawn by their grandchildren.

Guests were welcomed by Principal, Jonathan Forster who started the proceedings which included vocal performances by soloists and soulful renditions of songs from the Stables Choir, the Show Choir and the Chamber Choir, all of whom received resounding rounds of applause. The afternoon continued with dramatic performances and a showcase of a variety of instruments such as the trombone, piano, flute and traditional Chinese instruments.

To round the day off, the grandparents were invited on a guided tour of the grounds, accompanied by their grandchild. The sun was shining as the families walked amongst the spectacular scenery.

When asked about how she enjoyed the day, one grandmother said, “How inspiring and touching the afternoon has been.”  After which she turned to her granddaughter and stated: “How lucky are you to be surrounded by such accomplished women?”

At Moreton we take pride in our strong relationship with the students’ families. We encourage parents and grandparents to be as involved as possible with their child’s or grandchild’s education. One parent added:

It is so important to have a day organised especially for the grandparents – I think it’s a lovely idea.
