IAPS Swimming Gala Tops off Phenomenal Day of Sport

Moreton was host to one of 28 regional IAPS Swimming Galas as well as a number of Lacrosse, Badminton, Netball and Hockey fixtures last Wednesday which saw over a hundred sporty students arrive at the school.

The Gala was a qualifying event for the IAPS 2017 Swimming Championship final, which will be held on Saturday 6th May at K2 Leisure Centre in Crawley. In total, five schools took part with 104 swimmers competing in individual and relay events. Each competitor was allowed to enter one individual event and two relays. The fastest 16 swimmers in each discipline across all galas will qualify for the finals in the individual races. The top 12 schools across all galas will qualify for the finals in the relays.

Moreton First had 16 pupils from Years 4 to 6 competing and they are to be congratulated on their impressive performances. The standard of swimming was very high and all races had to comply with ASA laws and technical rules. It was wonderful to see so many parents who turned up to support all the competitors. We now wait to see if anyone has qualified for the final in May.
