Four Moreton tennis players competed in the Asbury Bailey Cup at Eton College with one pair qualifying for the knockout stages.
The Asbury Bailey Cup is for U15 girls teams and starts off as a round robin event in the morning and then progresses into plate and championship groups in the afternoon. Pair 1 for Moreton were Camilla and Amelia (L5) and Pair 2 were Coco and Verity (U4).
The morning matches proved to be tough and neither pair recorded a win, but had some good match practice ready for the plate competition in the afternoon. They fared much better in the plate: Camilla and Amelia won 2 matches and lost 2 matches, whilst Coco and Verity won their group and therefore qualified for the consolation knock out stage on Monday. They were beaten on the second day in their first match by a very good pair from Sevenoaks, but must be pleased with how well they played, as both Coco and Verity will be eligible to play in this competition again next year. All the girls and staff had an enjoyable time at the end of a busy and successful Tennis term.
