Lacrosse Triumph vs Malvern St James and Stowe
Following the success of Moreton’s first lacrosse team
at The North Schools’ Tournament, the players were feeling confident
about Saturday’s matches against rival schools Malvern St James and Stowe.
The Moreton team won both fixtures convincingly, beating
Malvern St James 16-6 and Stowe 14-7. Following a close first half against
Malvern St James, Moreton succeeded in keeping a clean sheet in the second
half, with the defence working well as a unit.
The second match against Stowe proved to be a tougher test. However, with determined play from
attack and mid-field, Moreton overcame a strong opponent. There were good links
between defence and attack, with continual running and good awareness. The
team’s sharp passing and movement enabled the set plays to work efficiently.
Overall the team’s play is becoming more fluent and
consistent as the season progresses. With continual improvement in the team’s
performance this will certainly boost confidence for the matches after the half
term break and the build-up to the Nationals at the end of February.
All the long hours of training and coaching put in by girls
and staff alike are starting to pay dividends.
