Maya Makes it to the Heart of London’s Theatreland

Maya (U4) recently competed in the regional final of the ESU Shakespeare competition. This was the second round, with Maya up against eighteen accomplished actors from schools such as Altrincham Grammar. Tensions were high, anticipation filled the room, but Maya held her nerve to deliver a transformative performance. London here we come!

She performed superbly, taking on all the direction she'd been given. Mr. Jenkins, who has been rehearsing with Maya, commented: “I’m thrilled to tell you that Maya has been awarded a place in the final. This is a huge achievement and the first time a Moreton student has reached this level.”

Head of Drama, Kate Howells enthused: “Wow! Just wow!  It was fantastic that she got through to the second round but to be in the finals in the West End is incredible.”

Modest as ever, Maya confirmed that she had never envisaged such success:  “I didn’t expect to get through at all. Mr Jenkins has encouraged me all the way and to be able to perform on a West End stage is a dream come true.”

The final takes place on Tuesday, March 20th in London.
