Despite freezing conditions the Moreton Hall team were crowned Scottish Schools’ Lacrosse Champions for the Fourth Consecutive Year this weekend.
Moreton’s First Lacrosse team travelled to Scotland over the weekend to take part in the Scottish Schools’ Open Lacrosse Tournament to defend their title. They kept an impressive clean-sheet throughout the group stages, winning against St Leonard's, Fettes College, Glenalmond College in the pool games and went on to beat Harrogate in the Semi-Final and Queen Margaret’s to be crowned Scottish School Champions.
Head of Sport, Kate Groves, comments: “We are very proud of what the 1st Team has achieved this weekend. They had a very tough start to the season; however the teamwork that they display has pulled them together, making them an outstanding team.”
'After a long bus journey up to Loretto, Scotland, and a cosy night in Premier inn, the first team battled the snow blizzard while warming up for our first match. We had three matches in our pool which we managed to win which put us through to the semi-finals (Fettes 6-4; St Leonards 12-0; Glenalmond 11-1).
In the Semi-final we had a tough match against Harrogate Ladies who are hard competition but the team pulled together and performed amazingly, winning 7-2. We proceeded into the final against Queen Margarets which was a very tense and exciting game but we were resilient throughout and finished with a close score winning 3-2. It was an amazing weekend, everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves and we are looking forward to National Schools!
