Moreton Teams Treated to Professional Football Experience

The U11 and U9 boys’ teams were treated to the real professional football experience as they travelled to The Venue in Oswestry to play against The New Saints Youth Academy in a series of exciting matches.

The Moreton teams have been visiting and playing at The Venue on a regular basis since last term. This is an incredibly exciting experience as not only do they play on the full-sized, fantastic pitch, but they also use their fully kitted out changing rooms and even walk through the tunnel to the ‘Champions League’ iconic song,  just like a Premiership team.

Some excellent footballing skill was expertly demonstrated by both the U11 and U9 teams as they played with a strong competitive spirit. Parents and spectators were gripped by the action as some exciting games took place. The U11 team were well matched against The New Saints Youth Academy side, and in a close game, Moreton lost 2-1. Oliver (Y6) scored a terrific goal. The U9 similarly played extremely well, with goals scored consistently from both teams.

The whole experience was incredibly exciting for these budding footballing stars. The boys also met The New Saint’s professional football star, Tom Matthews (this term’s boys’ sports captain Luke is pictured with him below).

Although the season of football is drawing to a close, the U9 and U11 team will still continue their training at TNS’ ground over the summer months. This way they will gain valuable experience and hone their skills in time to kick-start the season again in September.
