Moreton Students Show They Aren’t Just All Talk

Moreton Hall’s outstanding achievement in the Cheshire Festival of Speech and Drama

As ever, the Moreton Hall girls gave an outstanding performance at the annual Cheshire Festival of Speech and Drama on the 7th May. More than 30 students took part, winning nine classes, and achieving a ‘top three’ place in fifteen classes. Their hard work, dedication and endless practicing gave them due reward - returning with nine trophies.  Support from the parents was excellent, as always. 

Winners of the trophies: 

  • Charlotte came first in the 3 Poems Reading (13 years and under) and won the Margaret Walker Trophy
  • Rebecca and Elin came first in the Duo Verse Speaking (13 years and under) and won The Florence Trophy
  • Charlotte and Georgie came first in the Duologue (12 years and under) and won The Barley Trophy
  • Belinda came first in the Sight Reading (11-12 years) and won The Jenny Hancock Trophy
  • Cordelia came first three classes:

o Bible Reading (13-14 years) and won the Crewe Motor Company Trophy

o Sight Reading (13-14 years) and won the Audrey Vernon Trophy

o Prose Reading (13-14 years) and won the Marjorie and Alan Brook Trophy

  • Lucy came first in two classes:

o Sight Reading (15 years and over) and won The Leverton Trophy

o Poetry Reading (14 years and over) and won the Meanwood Trophy
