National Maths Awards for Moreton Girls

Fifty Moreton Hall girls from Upper 4 - Upper 5 took part in this year's Intermediate Maths Challenge run by the UK Mathematics Trust. Twenty eight achieved Gold, Silver or Bronze awards.

"The girls are going from strength to strength," comments Head of Maths, Sean Lang. "Of particular note is Phoebe Jackson who scored 115 out of a possible 135. To get a three digit score is truly brilliant and 115 is certainly the highest I've seen in my three years at Moreton. Phoebe, Georgie Lang and Issy Voelcker have also been selected to go forward to the Intermediate Maths Olympiad, placing them in the top 500 candidates in their respective year groups from across the UK. With an estimated 250,000 students entering this competition, these girls have done remarkably well."

Other outstanding results include Jessie Kan who was selected for the 'Pink Kangaroo' which places her in the top 2000 candidates, Lauren Fisher also achieved a Gold Award but just missed out on the follow-on rounds and Megan Keaveny - our youngest candidate - who came 17th in the school and achieved a Bronze Award.
