Professional Women Speak Out

Sweeping the board, Moreton Hall’s ESB students progress to the national finals of the Professional Women’s Public Speaking Competition.

Students Emily, Eliza and Molly attended the regional round of the Business and Professional Women’s Public Speaking Competition held at Moreton Hall. This is a national competition in which teams work together to hold mock meetings. Each team consists of three roles: a speaker, a chairperson and a vote of thanks. However, on arrival the teams are mixed up so that each chairperson and vote of thanks must introduce and thank a speech they have never heard before.

Five teams took part in the Shropshire rounds.  It was a fantastic evening, with topics ranging from the ethics behind organ donations to women in Hollywood, and we were all encouraged to work together and support each other.

Following a tense break it was announced that teams from Moreton Hall and Concord College had progressed to the next round which will be held in 2018.
