Top Test Lacrosse Tournament

The 1st and U15 squads travelled to St Helen’s and St Katherine’s in Abingdon to compete in the Top Test Lacrosse tournament this weekend. This competition acts as a ‘warm up’ for National Schools next month, with many of the Southern schools attending.

The 1st team had a great day and produced some very pleasing results. They played five matches, winning four and losing one. They beat St Helen’s and St Katherine’s 4-3;  Berkhamsted 2nds 8-3; St Catherine’s, Bramley 2nds 4-1; St Swithun’s 2nds 4-1 and lost to St Swithun’s 1sts, 2-5. This was excellent preparation for Nationals, giving them lots of things to focus on during the next few weeks.

The U15 team had seven matches; winning six and only narrowly losing to Berkhamsted 2-3. They beat Stowe 5-0; St Catherine’s U14s 2-1’ Godolphin 6-0; Putney High 5-1; St Catherine’s U15’s, 2-0 and Wycombe Abbey, 2-0.

The girls learnt a great deal from playing some very tough opposition and despite being tired from their exertions winning the North Schools’ tournament the day before, the team managed to play with skill, maturity and determination.

A number of coaches and spectators commented on their exceptional play, and one umpire said that “Moreton had the most polite and disciplined teams she had ever umpired…. the school should be very proud of them!”
