U14 & U15 North Schools’ Lacrosse Success

Moreton Hall hosted the prestigious U14 & U15 North Schools’ Lacrosse tournament on Saturday 4th February. Teams from six schools journeyed to Moreton to enjoy a full day of fixtures and excellent Lacrosse.

With a week of wet weather preceding the tournament, a decision was made to play the U14 event on the all-weather surface and the U15 event on the grass pitches. Jody Wilson, Head Groundsman, worked tirelessly to ensure the pitches were in excellent condition; the playing fields and Moreton Hall certainly looked impressive.

All teams played some great games of Lacrosse and the matches were battled in good spirit. The Moreton U15 team took part in a closely fought competition with the final result in question until the last game; ensuring a tense and exciting conclusion. The U15 team finished in 3rd place overall; they enjoyed themselves thoroughly and learnt a great deal about tournament tactics.

In the U14s tournament, the Moreton side entered both an A and B team.  Both teams played extremely well against a host of well-matched opponents. Special congratulations must go to the B team, who displayed some excellent teamwork skills and lacrosse abilities, holding their own whilst playing against strong A teams.

However, it was the Moreton A side who were crowned winners overall. This excellent result should give them a great deal of confidence going forward to the challenging fixtures ahead.

Jenny Sanderson, Head of Lacrosse, commented: “Its hard work preparing for a big tournament; however it is all worthwhile when you witness girls from schools, near and far, all playing their hearts out for their team.”
