St. Oswald's Church in Oswestry was host to twenty two girls from Upper 4 to Upper 5 as they were confirmed by the Bishop of Shrewsbury, the Right Reverend Mark Rylands, whose family, through his mother and sister, has been associated with Moreton since 1936. During the service, held on Friday 20th April, the choir sang three anthems with aplomb and U6 girls Lottie Eyre, Gaby Harrison and Alicia Meynell sang: 'Make me a light', as the girls were presented with their Confirmation candles.
Hundreds of parents, Godparents and other members of the girls' families joined staff, the Principal and Mrs. Forster and the teachers of the Confirmation classes, Sharon Crossland and Anne Ryan at the service. Afterwards a festive tea was held in the dining hall for all the candidates and their families, attended by the Bishop and clergy. Girls were presented with Confirmation prayer books from the school and the celebratory cake was cut and shared. All in all a happy and meaningful celebration for the twenty two girls and their families. Several parents found the experience significantly moving and wrote to express their gratitude and appreciation of the lovely service and enjoyable family tea. - David Reffell
