Confirmation Celebration

After three years of waiting, our confirmation candidates finally managed to have their service at St. Oswald’s Parish Church in Oswestry. Due to Covid restrictions, the church has been unable to hold services. It was therefore with great joy that our candidates were confirmed by our new Bishop, the Right Reverend Sarah Bullock. As usual, this is a very special event in the Moreton calendar. The sense of community that can be felt as families, friends and school meet to support these young people in their faith decision was clearly evident. From the many family members and sponsors, to the school choir and the friends that choose to do readings in the service, everyone pulled together to make this a very special occasion.

A very special thank you must be given to The Reverend Harvey and his team who helped us in the service, Mrs Helen Raynor and Mrs Ellie Diack who rehearsed the choir, Mrs Grainne Dennison who orchestrated the event, Ms Jill Blanchard who facilitated the confirmation classes and Mr Stephen Conroy and his team who provided refreshments.

Confirmation is the culmination of many hours in confirmation classes where pupils can explore different aspects of their faith and look at the challenges that young people face in modern society. As one candidate put it, “I don’t have all the answers to the questions that I ask of my faith, but I do know that I have put my feet firmly upon the pathway to working it all out”.
