Moreton Hall is committed to educating the ‘whole person’. The passing of examinations is, of course, very important - and our results at GCSE and A Level match all selective independent schools in the region - but we believe in inspiring young people to learn.

A variety of teaching styles are deployed to develop students’ capacities to research, to analyse and to explain.

Likewise, it is essential to achieve the optimal balance between the curricular and extra-curricular programme.

Our longer teaching day (lessons and activities to 6 p.m.) and Saturday morning school, give us more opportunities for teaching, learning and the array of extra-curricular opportunities.

Moreton is not, in the strictest terms, a selective school.  Our Learning Support Co-ordinator, Mrs. Janet Barlow, will assess all potential students if it has been identified that there is a requirement for some extra support.  Our Learning Support tuition is an integral part of our education provision - available to all at no extra charge.

We are proud that all our students, whatever their educational background, grow in self-confidence and achieve academic success at GCSE, A Level and beyond.

The tutor system, whereby each girl has her own personal tutor who monitors her academic and pastoral progress, is a vital part of our system, much praised in the 2006 inspection report:  “The tutorial system is at the very heart of the school and all teaching staff, including the Principal, are house tutors”.

We hold parents’ meetings in October for the parents of new girls and one formal meeting per year group per year. However, one of the strengths of Moreton is the genuinely 'open door' policy where parents can come in at anytime to discuss progress with academic or House staff.

Teaching staff are all highly qualified academically, plus many have wide-ranging talents and interests beyond the classroom - all contributing to the school’s holistic approach to education.
