Forty four Moreton Hall Year 9 girls have been working this year with Weston Rhyn Primary School to create personalised story books. ‘We have done this for many years now,' explains the project co-ordinator, Viv Lewis. ‘The Moreton girls spend some time with Reception and Year 1 children from Weston Rhyn Primary school, talking to them about their favourite things and hobbies. They then write and illustrate a special story book for each child and present it to them to keep.' On Wednesday June 30th the children from Weston Rhyn Primary School came to Moreton to be given their story books by their Moreton partners. |

This weekend 19th and 20th June, 24 LV girls walked a minimum of 18½ miles on their Bronze DoE expedition. They had to carry all their food and their tents and navigate the hills between School and Glyn Ceiriog. They were assessed by the Head of DoE in Shropshire who applied all the rules very stricly. At the end of the expedition he announced that he was very impressed with the Moreton girls and that all 24 had passed - so congratulations to them all! |

|
|
Wednesday, 19 May 2010 10:21 |
Moreton held our own full scale election on the National Election Day with teams of girls representing six of the major parties in the election, our neighbour Plaid Cymru, the Greens, UKIP and then the three major Westminster parties (with apologies to Alex Salmond!)
We held two election hustings (public meetings) where our political teams presented varied and lively expositions of the policies of their parties. The representative for the Lib Dems gave a clear explanation of her party's policy on PR as did the Plaid Cymru representative who produced an excellent speech on the Welsh perspective and the Greens gave out jolly gifts and rushed aroud looking very green. The UKIP and Conservative party produced amusing and informative film and powerpoint presentations respectively and the Labour party's speech included lots of hilarity!
