100% Pass Rate for Pupils, Fifty Percent Achieve Distinctions

Moreton First continues with its Spoken English successes this week as 18 pupils presented their own choice of poem and a reading from a favourite book to a visiting English Speaking Board Examiner.

Merriel Halsall-Williams, Head of Spoken English commented: ‘The pupils were thrilled to receive their results, achieving 100% pass rates. They have all developed valuable communication skills whilst gaining in confidence in the process.’ Fifty percent of the 18 participants gained distinctions, the highest award possible.

Eliza Kiel, Year 6 writes: “Just before half term, 18 pupils took part in an English Speaking Board (ESB) Exam. They had to recite a poem of their choice, present a reading from a favourite book and give a talk on a subject of their own choice. Moreton First do their ESB at a different time of the year from the seniors. The older you get, the longer your reading and your talk needs to be. This year my topic was something that I enjoy so I chose ‘Skiing’. Every year the topic will change. You will get your marks a few weeks later, and until then you hope that they are good! This year lots of us were awarded Distinctions.”
