Moreton Music Open to the Community

In Spring 2011 Moreton Hall began a Community Training Orchestra for children starting out in music, giving the opportunity to those from beginner to Grade 3 to experience playing in an orchestra. 'We wanted to start up a Training Orchestra for both our children and those in the local community,' explains Director of Music, Helen Rayner.

'We have put together a fun repertoire of music and welcome everyone who is learning an instrument from the beginner to Grade 3. The children are loving it.' The orchestra now has over 25 members including boys and girls from outside Moreton Hall. 'There are no auditions or age restrictions. All we ask is that children are keen to join in and give it a go.' In addition Moreton Hall is now running a Community Senior Orchestra for those at Grade 3 and above.

'Many children don't get the chance to play in an orchestra nowadays,' explains Amy Lott, Music teacher. 'We feel it is one of the best ways to get children enthused about music though, so we are very pleased that the local community is also benefiting from it.'

Both orchestras are holding an Open Rehearsal night so anyone can come along and join in on Monday October 17th from 5.30 onwards. Parents are welcome to attend.
