Practice Makes Perfect Scientists

Practice Makes Perfect Scientists

This term has seen the launch of the new Practical Skills programme for the Middle School.  A programme of practical skills in all three sciences, Biology, Chemistry and Physics, is being run each B week and during Saturday Science lessons to develop the key analytical and practical skills required by science students at GCSE and above.  Girls in Remove are working towards a Bronze Award in Practical Skills, in Lower 4 towards Silver and in Upper 4 towards Gold.  The programme has been developed to complement but not replace teaching of good practical skills in lessons. Each award will include 8 skills, which could be completed during the Christmas and Easter terms.  In the Summer Term the awards will be completed with a practical investigation, planned, carried out and written up and then the awards will be made during Science Festival week.
