As part of our ongoing enrichment programme we were delighted to welcome Wiser Words to Moreton with their Island Survivors and The Edge courses. Both courses sought to offer stretch and challenge and get the girls thinking independently and critically.
The Edge brought together our most academically gifted Lower 6 - all our Oxbridge and Russell group aspirants. It was a challenging day and not for the faint hearted. As the day unfolded the girls took the lead seeking to justify their own subject explorations and fostering those independent and intellectually rigorous interview skills that the top universities demand. Again the highly sophisticated tone of the plenary discussion revealed the progress that had been made in confidence and had clearly inspired an extremely diverse group of candidates,in terms of subject specialisms.
Island survivors marooned Upper 4 on A dessert island and set them about organising a new society complete with laws, religion, healthcare. They built their own shelters, struggled with whether to bump off the old and infirm and grappled with concepts of government and leadership, justice and individual responsibility and judging by the excellence of the plenary session reflected on their own position as members of a successful society.
