The Kelsall Hill one day event was held on the 27th September. I was competing in the BE 100 open class.

My section consisted of twenty experienced riders including Sophie Barlow. It was a very competitive class and my pony (Flash) was very excited in the warm up before the dressage test.

To my surprise, Flash settled down quickly for his test and we were successful: the judge gave us a score of 20.0! This meant I was leading in my section before the show jumping.

Flash jumped beautifully but unfortunately we had a pole down at fence five. Although this put my score down, I was still leading in my class due to my great dressage round.

At the start of the cross-country, Flash was buzzing with excitement. Once we got started, he was amazing and was jumping like a stag at every fence!

We jumped clear with a time of four minutes and twenty seven seconds, the optimum time being four minutes and thirty two seconds so we were well inside the time. This meant I had won the section. I was delighted!

It was a good day for Moreton as Sophie and her pony, Mohill Gypsy, also placed and came fourth. I couldn't have had a better run for the lead up to Weston Park where I will be representing Wales and Borders in the BE Under 18 100 Championships.
