Dr Hindson, Geography Teacher, spent part of his Easter break in Lithuania training science teachers. He is involved in a national project in Lithuania to improve the quality of learning through using more creative teaching methods, and together with Lithuanian colleagues trained a group of fifty teachers in the country over a series of workshops. These teachers now have the task to develop more creative approaches to specific topics in the science curriculum and then spread these ideas more widely to all schools in the country. The project is coordinated by the Lithuanian Ministry of Education and funded by the European Union and Dr Hindson will be returning to Lithuania later in the year to monitor the project.
Whilst in Lithuania Dr Hindson was invited to meet with a small group of University students taking part in an EU funded Young Entrepreneurs Project. He was able to present Moreton Enterprises as a case study of young people getting to grips with business issues in the UK. The students were suitably impressed and hopefully the presentation and discussion stimulated a few new ideas!
