After competing and hosting the Shropshire and Borders round of the Geographical Association Worldwise Quiz earlier this year, two teams of budding geographers progressed to the national final held in the Lake District.
Five schools from across the U.K. took part with eight teams competing altogether. Moreton Hall entered two teams of U4 students:
Team A: Sophia, Sienna, Ellie
Team B: Emma, Georgia, Simran
The participants were given a tour of the picturesque environment they would be spending their weekend in. After this, they were presented with their much anticipated challenger question: “How should the Lake District be managed in the future?”
Off to bed to ponder this conundrum, the competitors were up bright and early to devise their answer and gather relevant fieldwork and research to substantiate their claims. At the end of the day and after working on their projects for six hours in total, the eight teams presented their findings to two esteemed judges.
The Moreton Hall team B were awarded first place for ‘Best Presentation’.
