This March Holly Dempster Edwards was invited to attend the High Sheriff of Shropshire’s annual Young Citizen’s Award Ceremony at Shrewsbury College having been nominated for her outstanding work both at Moreton and in her local community. 39 young citizens representing schools and youth organisations across the county gathered for the ceremony where High Sheriff Robert Bland DL praised the example that all those nominated set for young citizens. He said how impressed he had been by the nominees; “We are very fortunate to have found so many inspiring nominations for the 2015 High Sheriff’s Young Citizen Award from all parts of Shropshire.”
Holly was one of seven runners up chosen by the High Sheriff for “Special Recognition” due to what the he described as a significantly high calibre of nominees.
“Holly epitomises what being a good citizen is all about” said Hannah Peel, Head of Biology at Moreton Hall. “Running Eco team and heading up a wide range of school initiatives; she is an excellent role model for younger girls. Outside school Holly also makes a significant contribution to her local community and church. It is very exciting that this has been celebrated through the High Sheriff’s awards.”
