The Chamber Choir and Moreton Musicians sung and played in a joint concert with Magdalene College Choir in their Chapel in Cambridge last weekend. The choir sang a varied programme from Rutter's 'For the Beauty of the Earth' to our very own anthem that was composed to mark Moreton's Centenary: The Waters of Babylon.
Soloists Elizabeth (Violin) and Jemima (Clarinet) gave sublime interpretations of J.S. Bach and Saint-Saens. The concert concluded with the two choirs joining forces to sing the exquisite Beati Quorum Via by Stanford and Rutter's For the Beauty of the Earth, directed by the Director of Music of Magdalene College, Jonathan Hellyer Jones, who commented that the girls had "...exceptional beauty of sound and achieved such musicality and subtly... they were a pleasure to direct".
The concert was very well received by the audience which was largely made up of parents, OMs and Cambridge students.
