Coco and Iris have been selected to play in the Lacrosse World Cup Festival for England and Wales respectively. The festival runs alongside the World Championships and the girls will play against teams from across the world as well as having the opportunity to watch their countries play.
Head of Lacrosse Coaching, Hollie Harrington, commented:
“It’s a fantastic opportunity for both girls and is a reflection of the hard work they’ve been putting in.
“I’m sure they’ll learn lots from the festival and it’s a great step on their national pathway.”
Coco believes the Festival will help her to hone her skills. She added:
“The world cup festival is a tournament which allows teams from around the world to play against each other at a competitive level. We have one day’s worth of training coming up before the festival.
“I hope to gain more experience playing in a competitive environment and hopefully improve my overall game play and confidence.”
It will be a whole new experience for Iris, who said:
“I am so excited about my trip to Canada this summer with Welsh lacrosse. We will be playing in the World Cup Festival and hopefully also the Canadian National Championships.
“I have never been on an aeroplane before, so this will be another new experience for me!
“I am sure that I shall learn so much and be able to use this next year, when playing with Moreton. It is a fantastic opportunity.”
The World Cup Festival is taking place in Peterborough, Canada, between 1-10 August.
