Having just completed her A Levels in Geography, Biology and Psychology, Laura Ellis (U6) headed off to the World Dance Championships held in Blackpool’s Winter Gardens at the end of June.
Laura won the Adult Intermediate Pairs section with her partner Matthew after only dancing together for 4 months, as well as coming 4th place in the Adult Girl Slow dance Section. She was also part of the winning street dance team from Border Counties School of Dance, based in St Martins. She comments “It’s been a amazing year so far, as well as my recent placing at the Worlds I also competed in the European Championships back in April, coming 2nd place in Adult Girl Championship section. I’ve sat and watched these finals at the major dance events for the past 7 years, so to finally dance in them is a great accomplishment for me”.
Laura plans to utilise her gap year as an opportunity to attend many more big dance competitions across the UK and abroad. The next challenge is to impress Lifetime TV’s ‘Dance Moms’ star, Miss Abby Lee Miller, who will be adjudicating at Laura’s next big dance competition held in Dublin in August.
