Moreton Hall launches a new musicianship programme offering chamber music coaching to students Grade 3 and above.
It has been devised to offer the highest standards of coaching to able students and to allow for greater individual musical development of pupils outside their curriculum and individual instrumental lessons. The diverse range of instruments includes piano, brass, strings and even Chinese Erhus.
Cici, Upper Five enthused: “Before joining the musicianship programme, I always envied people who played duets together and now the chance is mine. My patience and playing skills have improved and I get even more performance opportunities than I did before.”
A masterclass series will take place throughout the year with the first vocal class led by internationally renowned soprano Claire Wild. This will be followed in February by the highly experienced pianist, Ben Powell. Ben teaches at the Royal Northern College of Music, where he is also a staff pianist. He has a busy performing career alongside his teaching and has performed across the UK and Europe, in venues including the Royal Festival Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Bridgewater Hall and Wigmore Hall.
Students who prove to be the most advanced can be put forward to audition for Junior Departments at the Birmingham Conservatoire, the Halle and the Liverpool Philharmonic.
The final phase of the programme for this academic year will be to introduce the new Elite Music Scholarship to pupils who show dedication and high levels of commitment.
