Talented woodwind musician, Jemima (L6), recently competed in the prestigious Gregynog Young Musician of the Year competition. This renowned event draws in extremely skilled musicians from across the U.K and beyond with many competitors from overseas.
These seventeen musicians were undeniably the best young musicians in the country, as many go on to then become the BBC Young Musician of The Year. Jemima performed her two challenging pieces with excellent maturity and musical interpretation, and was a worthy semi-finalist.
Jemima commented on how much she enjoyed her participation in the competition:
“It was a wonderful experience to be able to listen to as well as play with these incredible musicians. It was a lovely day in the beautiful settings of Gregynog hall. I thoroughly enjoyed playing the 2nd Movement of Brahms 1st Clarinet Concerto and the 3rd Movement of Horovitz’s Clarinet Sonatina.”
Jemima’s musical success doesn’t end there, as she also is part of the National Youth Wind Orchestra of Great Britain. She recently took part in a course over Easter which culminated in two excellent concerts. She will join them again in Summer for another course, which she cannot contain her excitement for.
Jemima saw futher musical success on Wednesday 3rd May as she won her recital class at the Alderley Edge Festival. She wowed audiences members playing extremley challenging pieces with ease and confidence.
