Showing promising talent at Regional Level, senior school students, Milly and Annabel have been invited to the National Lacrosse Academy.
The National Academy offers a direct route into the England National Team setup, with players from the National Academy forming the England Under 19 National Squad.
The England U19 Team are currently fourth in the world after competing in the 2019 U19 World Championships, Canada.
Head of Lacrosse Coaching, Miss Harrington, commented:
“I am so thrilled for both Milly and Annabel. It is a fantastic achievement to be asked to join the National Academy. Through being part of the England Lacrosse National Academy, they will have the opportunity to represent their country in matches and tournaments, and I hope with their focused and determined approach they will soon be wearing an England shirt.”
Reflecting on the selection process, Milly enthused:
“I was extremely nervous prior to the trial but felt ready and confident. The trial was held over a weekend and was definitely strenuous but obviously worth it!
“We did lots of defence work with the senior under 23s defence captain, which was so beneficial as I received some very helpful advice about my hand positioning during a one-to-one session.
“We played lots of match game related drills to improve our decision making under pressure and finished the weekend with a tournament play so we could show off the skills we had gained over the two days.
“The coaches talked about nutrition, and the things we should do the day before a big match or tournament, to help us play to our maximum potential.
“It was a tiring but very beneficial weekend, and I am very excited to return to train with the great coaches and great players.”
“Playing for England has been my dream since I first started playing lacrosse around 10 years ago so when I received the email saying I had been selected I was absolutely ecstatic to be another step closer to achieving my goal!”
