Moreton Hall student, Iris represented Shrewsbury Running Club in the National Cross Country Championships at Harewood House near Harrogate on Saturday 23rd February. Although still only thirteen years old, Iris took part in the Under Fifteen category. Despite competing against the year above, Iris was placed 69th out of over 350 runners.
It has been a good week for the young sportswoman who competes both for Moreton Hall and independently. As a lacrosse player Iris trains with the Welsh Academy, and has just been selected for the U19B team for Wales. Iris said: “I was really surprised and shocked to be chosen to play for my country. It makes me want to keep up a high standard of play and keep pushing myself to achieve.”
The next steps for Iris will be playing against Scotland and England in the upcoming National Lacrosse Championships, as well as running for Shropshire in the Inter-counties Championship in Loughborough on Saturday 9th March 2019. She will also be part of the Moreton Hall teams at the National Schools Lacrosse Championships this weekend.
