Success at The Alderley Edge Festival for Music, Speech and Drama
Jemima Pickersgill (U4) writes of her recent success:
Last week I had the opportunity to take part in the 2014 Alderley Edge Festival for Music, Speech and Drama. This is a large festival with over 2,500 competitors from all over the country which has taken place every year for over 100 years in South Manchester.
I was entered for the grade 6, 7 and 8 woodwind classes and was delighted with my result. I came second out of eighteen competitors, many of which were older and from prestigious music schools and colleges. I played Poulenc's Sonata for Clarinet and Piano. The piano class also went really well: I was placed 3rd overall with a grade 7 piece: Presto from Paradise's Sonata 10. It is a fantastic festival and I really enjoyed taking part.
Highest Ever Marks in Music Examinations
The Summer term has seen the best set of Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music examination marks ever gained by Moreton Hall pupils including an outstanding score of 141 by Stephanie Christensen in her Grade 6 Flute exam. We congratulate all of the girls on their achievements.

Whittington Music Festival
Elizabeth Walsh (U4) took part in the renowned Whittington Music Festival last month. She said of the annual event:
"The Whittington Chamber Music Festival was a great experience for me and for others. Working with professionals inspired me to perhaps join a trio or quartet myself. The professionals were truly exceptional and I thank them for their hard work during the festival and encouraging us in every possible way."
