After a great evening last night at the pizza party where many of our girls decided to swim fully clothed in the club swimming pool and a good morning at the parade - it was down to business on the Lacrosse pitch. The Mercer Island pitch and stadium is very impressive and was a great venue for the girls to play in. It was supposed to be a bit cooler today but that was not the case. Perfect blue sky and lots and lots of sun! The B Team were playing first against the Washington State select team and had their work cut from the start. They lost the game 13-5 but it was a good opportunity for all girls to learn and be pushed to the limit with may of the girls having their best game yet!
The A Team game was against Mercer Island High School team. Before the match their coach was worried she would not have enough players however they had heard we were in town and she ended up with more than a full squad! It was a superb game as the Mercer Island team had some brilliant players and were defending the ball well. Our team had to work extremely hard and be patient on the ball. The game ended in a draw 10-10!! They were the hardest team we have played so far and once again in true Moreton style they girls never gave up even though the heat was almost unbearable!
We celebrated Lucy Simpsons birthday after the game even though her cup cakes had melted in the heat! Tonight it is Mercer Islands summer celebrations so there is a big firework display over Lake Washington which the girls are all going to see! For the staff it is a trip on the lake to see the fire works so we will get some good photographs.
We now have two days off playing which all the girls need with a possible trip a to a water park!
